Dear friends, marriage is a sacred bond, but even the strongest relationships can hit troubled times. When hardship, conflict or bitterness drives you apart, it can feel impossible to bridge the rift. Yet with faith, compassion and willingness to grow together, reconciliation is possible.
The Bible offers wisdom for mending brokenness. When we feel abandoned or confused by a spouse’s actions, we must continue trusting in God’s plan. As it says in Jeremiah, “I know the plans I have for you…plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope.” With prayer, we can seek God’s guidance to develop understanding. As James writes, “If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God.”
Healing also requires freeing ourselves from resentment. As Jesus taught, “If you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.” Make the first move and let go.
Next, we must nurture our communication. Listen without interruption, then speak gently. As Proverbs says, “A soft answer turns away wrath.” Demonstrate selfless agape love that “bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things.”
Finally, renew commitment to each other and to spiritual growth. Ecclesiastes reads, “Two are better than one, for they have a good return for their labor…Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves.” Therefore, cling to the vine of Christ and you will bear good fruit.
Dear friends, now let’s see the Bible scriptures below that talk about healing a broken marriage:
