Dear friends, our God is a present help in times of trouble. When storms come and sorrows overwhelm us, He promises to be our refuge and strength. We are not left alone in our pain and fear.
Our Savior knows what it is to suffer. He was despised and rejected, a man of sorrows. He cried out in anguish in the Garden of Gethsemane. Even Jesus needed the Father’s comfort and help amid deep distress. How much more do we need the Lord’s sustaining grace when trials come?
God does not always immediately deliver us from affliction. But He walks with us through the valley, surrounding us with His love. He hears our cries and sees our tears. No pain escapes His notice or care.
In the darkness, God is still our light. In weakness, He remains our strength. When everything is shaken, He cannot be moved. His faithful love endures forever. He is the solid rock on which we stand.
So let us run to our refuge in every storm. There is no trouble so heavy that God cannot lift the burden. He will carry us close to His heart until the storm passes. Take comfort, dear friends. Our God will help us.
Dear friends, now let’s look at the Bible scriptures below that talk about “God is Our Help in Times of Trouble.”

When sorrow or trials overwhelm us, God promises to be our comforter. As a mother tenderly consoles her child, the Lord surrounds His beloved with compassion. He wipes every tear from their eyes. They can rest in His arms until the grief lessens. Even in the deepest anguish, we are not alone because God’s presence brings solace. He uplifts the downcast heart with hope. Our souls can find rest in His gentleness and understanding. His comfort renews our strength to endure.

Throughout Scripture, we see God powerfully deliver His people from enemies seeking to destroy them. Pharaoh’s army drowned in the Red Sea while Israel walked on dry ground. God shut the mouths of lions to spare Daniel. And Jesus rose triumphantly, defeating sin and death forever. No enemy can thwart God’s redeeming purpose for our lives. He promises to be a strong tower, delivering all who take refuge in Him. We need not fear for God fights for us. He will bring justice and lead us to victory.

When adversity strikes, our natural response is often to panic or rely on our own efforts. But God calls us to trust in Him during troubles. He wants us to rest in His unfailing love and sovereignty over all circumstances. Though His plan is unclear, His purposes are good. As we surrender anxiety and lean wholly on the Lord, He fills us with supernatural peace. Our security comes from trusting the faithful Shepherd’s care. We can release each fear and burden into His strong, loving hands.

Human frailty provides an opportunity for God’s strength to shine. In our weakest moments, His power finds perfect expression when we rely totally on Him. God told Paul, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” When we cannot take another step, God carries us. When we have nothing left to give, He fills us. The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit. Even if we stumble, God’s mighty hand upholds us. His strength is shown most clearly when we admit our great need. In surrender, we find His empowering grace.
