Dear friends, Renewing our minds is an essential part of the Christian walk. When we come to faith in Jesus, we become new creations though the work of the Holy Spirit. However, we still have old habits of thinking that need to change. As we immerse ourselves in God’s Word, our way of thinking is transformed. The Scriptures renew our minds, revealing more of God’s truth and goodness.

Having the mind of Christ means thinking the way He does. As we read what Jesus said and did in the Gospels, we can pattern our thoughts after His. The Holy Spirit also teaches us, if we listen. The more time we spend contemplating heaven’s truths, the more our thought patterns align with our Lord’s.

When God renews our minds, He makes us more like Jesus. It is an ongoing process of becoming holier as the old self fades away. Surrendering our wills to Christ each day allows more transformation to happen. The Spirit chips away legalistic or worldly thinking, replacing it with Kingdom principles. Gradually and gracefully, He changes us.
